Minnesota Twins President Visits Bismarck | Video

Lee Timmerman | 12/13/2012

For most midwest cities it would be unusual for the president of the Minnesota Twins to stop by for a visit. But for Dave St.Peter, he can mix business with pleasure when he comes to Bismarck. Dave is a St.Mary`s graduate and his parents still live in town.

St. Peter is speaking to the Bismarck-Mandan Young Professionals Network tonight. Despite this being the off-season, he is very busy with his day job.

"There really isn`t much of an off season in baseball anymore. The game is such that you`re always doing something, getting ready for a new season. Obviously we`re trying to build a pitching staff and really put a team on the field that gets us back to that winning tradition that our fans have come to know and frankly expect that`s been our focus this off season and we got more work to do."

As St.Pater said, the Twins are in the process of rebuilding the team on the field. He plays a big role in how to fit everything into the payroll.

"We have a lot of communication with ownership and the good news is because of target Field we frankly have much more flexibility than we had. Money is not the problem here, making good baseball decision is going to be the challenge. We need to make sure we spend that money wisely to not only set the team up for success in 2013 but we always keep an eye on the long term and we`re trying to build a ball club that can sustain success over the long term much like we did in the 2000s."

St.Peter started with the Twins as an intern and worked his way up the ladder becoming the president in 2009.
