When there is a tie in the region standings and it includes three teams who`s loss is against one another, point differential determines the seeds. That`s why Century is playing 8-1 Red River in the opening round of the AAA playoffs.

The Roughriders finished the regular season by handing Fargo South its first loss in the conference, so there`s no question the Patriots face a team that`s playing well.

On the offensive I think they`re very balances verses the run and the pass a lot of their big plays come off pass or play-action off of the run, very solid up front they don`t do a lot of things flashy but they do throw well and certainly we`ll have our hands full trying to contain all of their weapons," said Century head coach Ron Wingenbach.

Century finished second in the final AAA poll of the season, while Red River is 4th. They did not meet during the regular season and it`s the first of two at the Commuity Bowl on Friday.

　

"They have a lot of track kids on the team both sides of the ball offensively and defensively and they run pretty well and get them on a good field here at the Community Bowl they`re going to be that much faster so we`ll have to make sure our angles are good, we tackle will and all of the little things that are important when you get in the playoffs," Wingenbach said.

It`s a 4:00 start on Friday afternoon for the Patriots.

The Demons play Devils Lake in the 2nd-half of the playoff doubleheader.
