Bison From Bismarck | Video

Lee Timmerman | 9/20/2012

One of the biggest newsmakers in fall camp from the Bison was the number two quarterback position. Century`s Carson Wentz edged Bismarck High`s Esley Thorton, which moved Thorton to defense. With NDSU playing Prairie View A-&-M this week, there`s a good chance both will see the field.

Wentz is 3 of 6 so far this season.

"Whether you`re the second or third string you always want to be ready. Because third string you`re two plays away and second string, one play away. But I`m going to practice as if I`m the starter every week so I`m ready if my number gets called, I`m ready to go."

Thorton is a linebacker and he tweeked his hamstring which slowed him a little but the head coach says a good week of practice could pay off in playing time.

"When we moved him over there we knew it would be tough and we said OK we`re moving him over here right now and we`ll try to get him in the fray a little but but hopefully take that off week to get him schooled up and to get him some playing time after that because we will need him in conference play," said head coach Craig Bohl.

Conference play is next week, the Bison are number one ranked while the Panthers are 0-3. The pre-game show on NBC North Dakota Sports starts at 2:30 central time. Kickoff on this station will be shortly after 3:00.
