Gold Medal Reaction | Video

Lee Timmerman | 8/13/2012

If you ask someone, "What was your Olympic highlight?" You are bound to get a ton of different answers. If you ask that question in the Queen City, Ramon Miller is likely the popular answer.

Miller is a Dickinson State graduate who ran the anchor leg of the Gold Medal winning 4-by-400 meter relay for the Bahamas. Pete Stanton recruited Ramon to the Blue Hawks and he is proud of his former pupil.

"I have to admit it was a little awkward on Friday afternoon when we had a room full of people and cheering against the United States, but we were more cheering for Ramon. We were cheering for one of our own, and we thought about that afterwards. We were cheering against the United States, but we were so excited for Ramon to come from behind and secure his country`s first gold medal. It just couldn`t get any better than that."

Miller won 12 national championships during his time at DSU. He also has a silver medal from the Olympic games in Beijing.

The gold in London is the first for the men`s track team from the Bahamas.
