North Dakota Native Releases Children’s Book | Video

Julie Leonardi | 3/22/2013

It took 16 years, but a North Dakota native has finally published her first children’s book. Theodora Klein-Carroll grew up in a small town called Karlsruhe, just outside of Minot. Her family lived and worked on a farm, so agriculture was prominent in Thea`s life.

“Growing up on a rural farm, our livelihood depended on farming and growing our gardens.”

Theodora was one of 11 children. They all worked on their farm, learning the importance of determination and perseverance. And quickly learned how important rain was for their business.

“Rain, it was so important to us!”

That`s when Thea developed the character Tippy. The rain drop teaches children courage and motivation, while bringing attention to the importance of nature.

“From that upbringing, Tippy came from this value; growing up on the farm. That’s just how it stuck to me! Someone has to write about a raindrop, but also give life lessons at the same time.”

Thea made a special trip back to Minot to share her book with Magic City Daycare, and discuss why Tippy`s perseverance was so important, never give up on your dream; a lesson very close to Thea’s heart.

“Great faith, determination and perseverance, it all became possible. I just followed my dream. You’re never too young or old. Just believe in yourself and have faith, follow your dreams, and it will happen. You have to go for it!”

Tippy the Raindrop is available online at www.amazon.com or www.barnesandnoble.com.
