Cathedral Holds Prayer Service For Pope | Video

Kristin Clouston | 3/13/2013

Catholics in Bismarck met to pray for the new Pope. Many who attended the service say they`ve been praying all week, have been waiting in anticipation, and are pleased with the election of Pope Francis. A University of Mary student says today is a day she and her friends will remember for the rest of their lives.

"We all watched it together and we waited and just waited for the curtains to open and we all cheered and prayed together. It was great." said Cate Zebroski.

"In his first speech, he asked everyone to pray for him, and he actually bowed his head to receive the blessing, which I thought was very touching," added Cathryn Anderson.

"I trust the 115 people that were in there. When you`ve got as many people around the world praying for them as there were, you`ve got to know that the hand of God is involved," explained Ken Karls.

Mark Armstrong added, "Apparently he was second choice before Pope Benedict, so I think that we`ve got some continuity with that."

The Bishop also read the new Pope`s biography at the service so people could learn more about him.
