Since 9/11, transportation safety administration agents have been beefing up their security checkpoints at airports all across the country, sometimes with very controversial rules and regulations. Now, the TSA has decided to change one of those rules.

When you walk into an airport you still have to separate all of your health and beauty items into a plastic bag, but with a recent change, there is one more thing you can carry on.

"I mean what is the reason for letting people have knives on the plane in the first place? I mean they have no use for them on the planes," said Damin Rivera.

Rivera heard about the TSA`s recent announcement sitting in the airport terminal on his way to Minot. After hearing the news, he is concerned about allowing small pocket knives on board.

"I think with everything going on, with all of the schools and guns, I think they are just adding more trouble with planes," said Rivera.

But for Justin Ramo, he is viewing the change from a different side of the blade.

"I think it`s a little bit better. It shows that their able to trust the public a little more than they were able to in the past," said Ramo.

Starting on April 25, there are a few things you can start bringing in your carry on, like a small pocket knife, but there are a couple of stipulations.

A few things to keep in mind, is the pocket knife must be less than three inches. And the width of the blade can be no more than a half of inch at its widest point. Lastly, the knife cannot have a fixed, a wide or a locking blade.

"It doesn`t matter the size. Either way it can still hurt someone or kill somebody. It doesn`t matter if it`s locked or fixed, whatever. A blade`s a blade," said Rivera.

Groups representing air marshals and flight attendants are outraged by the TSA`s decision to allow small pocket knives onto flights and asking them to reconsider.

In addition to adding pocket knives, some sporting equipment will also be allowed on board. Such as, ski poles, golf clubs and hockey sticks.
