North Dakota Senator John Hoeven spoke about the findings on the Senate floor this afternoon, saying approval of the project would help the country gain energy independence. "For the first time in generations, the United States with it`s closest friend and ally Canada has the capacity to produce more energy than we use. Eliminating our dependence of the Middle East and other volatile parts of the world."
Senator Heidi Heitkamp added, "There is an on-ramp for North Dakota crude, which is at Baker Montana. So we`re hoping that as we diversify the marketing opportunities for North Dakota crude we`re going to see any kind of price differential narrowing, in fact being eliminated."
Heitkamp praised Hoeven for the work he has done to help promote the project so far, and says she hopes the President will approve it.
