Last year`s success is due to very high crop yields, high commodity prices and the cooperation of mother nature. This is an accomplishment that will impact many areas of the state`s economy.
“Agriculture is statewide and everybody benefits, from the mom and pop grocery stores and gas stations to equipment sales. Everybody benefits from agriculture in North Dakota, that`s really important for our state”, said Eric Eriskmoen, a research agronomist with the North Central Research Extension Center.
North Dakota`s successful 2012 agricultural year was lead by the state`s corn crop, which was valued at $2.9 billion.
