More Young Women Diagnosed With Breast Cancer | Video

When you think of cancer, you may associate it with growing older, but according to a recent study, more and more young women are being diagnosed with breast cancer. The Journal of The American Medical Association said that there has been an increase in breast cancer between the ages of 25 to 39.

Women under 40 who have this form of breast cancer could experience a more aggressive stage because it passes through other organs faster which makes beating the disease much more challenging.

Some medical experts at Trinity hospital are saying that although these rates have been increasing, there are ways to catch the cancer early.

"If there is a family history like if a sister or if a mother or any woman has a history of breast cancer, that`s a significant thing they need to be aware of. There is really no blood test that you can take that will be a screening study," said Dr. Kenneth Keller Medical Director, Radiology.

Keller said you should be conducting daily breast exams at home to check for lumps. If you notice anything out of the ordinary, you should contact your doctor.
