Too Much TV? | Video

Sarahbeth Ackerman | 2/21/2013

Could a child`s behavior be linked to how much TV they watch? According to a recent study in the Journal Pediatrics, the more TV a child watches, the higher the chance their behavior can become aggressive.

According to a pediatrician at Trinity Health, it`s not just about what shows they`re watching, it`s about how they are watching those shows.

Nowadays, children watch TV, play video games and go on the computer by themselves. When a child isolates themselves, they are creating an anti-social environment which can cause aggression.

"If you are there by yourself, you are not out playing with friends. And, you don`t have the give and take of games, learning to take your turn and that kinda of stuff. When they are spending their time, sitting watching TV, you are losing out on those opportunities," said Trinity Health pediatrician Diana Peterson.

Peterson suggests limiting how much TV your child watches and when they are flipping through the channels, they should not be alone.
