USDA Announces Loan Guarantees for Electric Service Improvement

Two electric cooperatives in North Dakota will receive loan guarantees for improved electric services. The $41 million will be used to improve generation and transmission facilities as well as implement smart grid technologies.

Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative, Inc. will get $7.7 million for lines, system improvements and smart grid projects. Central Power Electric Cooperative, Inc. will get over $33 million for lines and system improvements.

The loan guarantees are provided through USDA`s Rural Utilities Service.
