Welcome Home Wolves | Video

Since the 2011 flood, the staff at Roosevelt Park Zoo has worked around the clock, rebuilding the facility and bringing their animals back. Today, they took another step closer to reaching their goal of re-opening.

It was day of celebration at the Roosevelt Park Zoo. Earlier today, two new wolves were introduced and welcomed into their new home. Members of the zoo staff were on hand for a naming ceremony for the two new female timber wolves. The day was dedicated to 75 employees from Enbridge who donated more than 600 volunteer hours towards re-building the zoo.

Because of that, the zoo came up with a creative way to give back to some of those who have helped them. “We wanted to thank them in a fun way, so what our staff did is they threw into a pot 14 different choices for names and then we gave that to Enbridge for the employees to vote on and decide the two winning female wolf names, which are Denali and Luna,” added Jennifer Fry, the Education Coordinator for Roosevelt Park Zoo

Zoo officials said the next batch of animals being brought back to the zoo will be a couple Warthogs. Roosevelt Park Zoo is set to open May 4.
