President Obama`s second inauguration takes place Monday. People from all over the country will attend the historic event, including some from North Dakota. Native Americans from across the state will march in the parade after the President is sworn in. Several employees at United Tribes Technical College will be among them.

Both Angel Young and Janet Thomas will be among the 55 people going to President Obama`s inauguration ceremony.

"I think as far as North Dakota representation, I think we`re going to be good," said Thomas.

"We`re going to be marching, presenting our colors," said Young.

Young is a member of the Native American Women Warriors. Her group has gained plenty of support to be a part of President Obama`s ceremony this year. She says people remember the organization because of their uniqueness.

"As soon as you hear Native American women warriors, right away you hear the jingle dress."

Young and other members will wear the garment during the parade.

"This is something that I`m going to be telling my grand children about, it`s very exciting for me," Young said.

Thomas attended the last inauguration in 2009. She came away with many friendships from the trip. "There`s so many groups from all over the country."

Thomas was part of the Get Out and Vote campaign here in North Dakota. Native Americans had a strong presence in this year’s election.

"Our Native vote folks we`re very proud and I was very proud to be a part of it," said Thomas.

She says going to Washington a second time is something she never thought would happen. "It`s going to be really an amazing historic experience again and I`m just really grateful to be coming."

An experience that will be something to talk about for the rest of their lives.

Native Americans from the Standing Rock Reservation, Turtle Mountain, Three Affiliated Tribes and Fort Berthold Reservation will be attending the ceremony as well.
