Lignite Production Down

According to the Lignite Energy Council, since 1988, North Dakota`s Lignite Production has consistently been about 30 million tons per year, making North Dakota one of 10 major coal-producing states in the United States. Even though last year production was down about 700,000 tons, estimated state tax revenues resulting from lignite activities were $101.6 million in 2012, up more than $9 million from 2011.
