Housing Incentive Fund Increase Proposed | Video

Jennifer Joas | 1/14/2013

The Finance and Taxation Committee looked at a bill that would increase the Housing Incentive Fund three fold. The fund`s limit is $15 million, and it provided more than 700 new housing units for low income families.

Sponsors are proposing to increase that to $50 million during the next biennium.

"I don`t see the $50 million program solving the problem as we see it today. But it`s going to go a lot further than what we have been able to do up to this point in time," said Mike Anderson with the Housing Finance Agency.

Anderson also suggested including a emergency clause that would allow building to start this summer.
