Staying Safe On New Year`s Eve | Video

Julie Leonardi | 12/31/2012

2013 is quickly approaching and it’s time to celebrate the New Year! Typically, alcohol is a part of the celebration. Minot residents have been rushing to liquor stores to stock up on the bubbly. But what are they doing to make sure they have a safe night?

Brandon Neiss, Minot resident, said, “I’ll just be staying home tonight with my wife and kids.”

Daniel Hoogana, a visitor, said, “We’re going to be safe by taking a cab everywhere we go, we’ll be calling ahead and taking cash out to be prepared.”

One Minot man and 10 of his friends are practicing New Year’s safety by renting a Winnebago. Taylor Vollmer and his friends said it’s better to go out and then sleep in the Winnebago than to drive home. “None of us wanted to drive tonight, so we’re just going to stay in a 1972 Winnebago that we rented. There are only three beds, but we’ll figure it out.”

According to employees at Marketplace liquor, beer was the hot item of the night, not champagne.
