Keeping Your Pets Warm | Video

Jessica Roose | 12/25/2012

As the temperatures continue to drop, we don`t hesitate to bundle up and stay inside whenever possible. But some forget that our furry friends can be just as cold. A local veterinarian says it`s important to watch your animals when they are outside. If the dog is shaking, be sure to bring them inside or put a sweater on them. If you do leave them in the yard, he says to make sure they have a warm place to escape to.

"I recommend never having an animal kept outside that`s less than a year of age. Because they`re still in that growth phase and they can`t both grow and keep warm and so one has to give out and of course they can be stunted," said veterinarian Jerry Buchholz.

He also says to make sure and rinse off the dog`s feet when you bring them inside to get any salt off.
