Sarahbeth Ackerman | 12/17/2012

"I`ve always surrounded myself with books. I always thought you were never poor if you had a book," said owner of Main Street Books, Valerie Stadick.

Stadick says she feels wealth every day because she`s surrounded by pages and pages of her favorite stories. It all begin after her first trip to a library.

"It was a very old building, it was an old house, it was renovated into a library and that put such a strong impression on me. The smells if the books and the old desk and the old librarian sitting there."

Because she was so inspired by the books she read, her life`s ambition was to surround herself by books.

"I remember looking around, I was just amazed there was so many books in the world."

Since that first trip to the library, Stadick knew she had a special eye for books.

"There`s nothing in the world that you can`t learn that doesn`t come from a book."

Stadick says she lets her consumers drive what comes into the store. While she is going through her vendor catalog, she orders books and toys with her customers in mind.
