Hope Village Funds | Video

As part of its on-going fund raising efforts to help rebuild Minot after last year`s flood, Hope Village was given a challenge to raise $50,000 in 30 days and they went above and beyond.

"We not only made out goal but beat it with great gusto. The dollars that we`re able to raise, it`s exciting to see how it`s going to help, not only Hope Village but the recovery warehouse and the long term recovery group," said coordinator Steve Carbno.

Donations were sent in from across the country, adding up to more than $90,000. As promised, Kent Busek will tack on an extra $50,000.

"It just became an opportunity for us as a group to pay it forward to a couple of other groups that are struggling right now, it was so exciting to be a part of the Christmas giving and the receiving obviously," said Carbno.

Hope Village is thrilled with the overwhelming amount of generosity and they`re saying all they need now, are more volunteers.

"It`s so important that we keep the momentum going and while there`s snow on the ground, and it`s cold, we still want to be able to give these homes back to those people and we can only do that with the people that are coming and helping us."

"We certainly realize that there are more people needed even now in the winter time to do this interior work. So we`re hoping we can interest more people to come and help. We certainly are appreciative of the funds that have been collected. It`s been a great effort," said volunteer Myrlin Hall.

Now that Hope Village has raised $140,000, Minot hopes to see more families back in their homes.
