BPS Want Parent Input | VideoKristin Clouston | 11/26/2012
Right now more than 50 classrooms are at capacity and it looks like they`ll be getting about 340 new students each year for the next five years. The district planned on moving sixth graders to middle school and ninth graders to high school in three years, but is now considering doing it next fall.
Lincoln elementary will be ready in the middle of 2013-2014. The plan would be to move sections of first through fifth graders and their teachers from Dorothy Moses and Will-Moore mid-year. These are kids that would end up going to Lincoln anyway. The kindergartners would go to school at an off site location in Lincoln.
The ninth graders would also be moved up, but details for that would need to be worked out because there isn`t room at BHS or Century.
The school board plans to make a decision at it`s December 10th meeting at wants parent input.
Members will also be voting on next years calendar. In order for school to be out by Memorial Day classes would have to start August 20th. They want input on that too and a copy of the calendar will be posted to the district`s main web page bismarckschools.com/district/.
