Mandan RV Ordinance Passes | Video

Joel Porter | 11/21/2012

Sleeping in an RV without a permit could get you in big trouble in Mandan. Commissioners passed an ordinance yesterday making it illegal for transients to park their campers in city limits. Those visiting family and friends for less than a week are not affected. The ordinance is modeled after one in Williston.

Mandan police say contractors staying at a job site need a permit every 30 days, and trailers must be hooked up to power and sewer lines. Violators could face up to a $500 fine per day.

"We`re being proactive and what we`re trying to do is prevent a problem later that we have to deal with," said police chief Dennis Bullinger.

Developers also presented two proposals for building at the corner of Main Street and Collins Ave. One project is a new BNC Bank. The other is a 29 unit apartment complex.
