BSC Students Showcase Clean Energy Projects | Video

Joel Porter | 11/20/2012

A few Bismarck State College students were showcasing some clean energy projects this afternoon. The carpentry students are enrolled in an introduction to the green environment class. Each student chose a product to research and test firsthand, such as lightbulbs, hydrogen distillers to boost fuel economy.

One product hooks on to a bicycle and can charge mobile devices as the user pedals around town.

"Then, I did my lawnmower with a hipod on one quart of gas and my lawnmower ran for 36 minutes. So, with the hipod, I got 20 percent more fuel output," said BSC sophomore Bill Martin.

"Some of them worked. Most of them worked, some of them didn`t work. And so, it`s been very interesting," said BSC Associate Professor of Carpentry Earl Torgerson.

The students are part of the new Sustainable Building Science Program at BSC.
