ND Oil Production Increases | Video

Jennifer Joas | 11/14/2012

Like all the economic activity in North Dakota, oil production just keeps on expanding and the Department of Mineral Resources says it`s no surprise. Oil companies are doing more with less. In September, the rig count averaged around 190, but companies recovered an additional 27-thousand barrels of oil.

The department says it`s difficult to predict future production numbers with the changing technology.

"You never know because its ever changing, this whole play continues to evolve, it continues to surprise. But one thing we do know is that production will continue to rise," said Department of Mineral Resources PIO Alison Ritter.

Ritter expects the state to have produced 200 million barrels of oil by the end of the year. That`s an increase of 48 million barrels over last year.
