Recap of Measures: 3, 4, 5 | Video

Voters decided on some of the most controversial statewide topics during Tuesday`s general election. The five ballot measures have been at the center of political discussion throughout the past few months. While all ballots were counted, the controversy continues for measures 3, 4 and 5.

"With the chemicals they put in on their land already is bad enough and I don`t know how much more they can do but I`m not too for it all," said Karen, a Minot resident.

Under the approved Measure 3, farmers and ranchers are guaranteed the right to engage in modern farming and ranching.

Measure 4 was another hot topic on the ballot.

"I think its great idea, being an ex-smoker I feel bad for of the people that can`t go smoke in restaurants and all of that but I think it`s for the better of everybody," said Karen.

I think I`d choose to stay probably in more because when I do have cocktails I do prefer to have a cigarette, it`s relaxing. It`s just like having a drink," said Minot resident, John Johnson.

Under the approved Measure 4, this would prohibit smoking, including the use of electronic smoking devices in public places, work locations and certain outdoor areas.

Although all the ballots are in and we know the future of Measures 3, 4 and 5 we still have a lot of mixed reviews coming from North Dakotans.

"It`s not always worded the where it can be changed later on down the road I believe, so I think that no was a good way to vote on that, I guess I did anyway," said Karen.

One controversal measure, Measure 5, did not pass.

"Our campaign, our supporters, everybody is deeply saddened by this," said Karen Thunshelle, Campaign Manager to Stop Animal Cruelty.

Although the measures are finalized, voters will continue to discuss these issues.
