Medicare Enrollment Assistance | Video

Rene Thibault | 11/6/2012

Ward County residents had the chance to get free Medicare assistance earlier today.

Members of the State Health Insurance Counseling Program were at the Grand International today helping people with switching or enrolling in a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan. The enrollment period ends December 7th. And Beneficiaries need to stay up to date on the details of their plans, which can change from year to year.

Lillian Keller, a Minot resident says it can be a confusing process, “You get so many different letters of information and you just don`t really understand, so if you have somebody to sit down and talk to its easier to understand as to what program you should enroll in”. “We always provide them with the top two plans based on the medications that they`re currently taking. If they`re not taking any medications it`s also important for them to compare because again, the plan premiums and deductibles do change from year to year”, added Jane Ward, a representative of the Insurance Counseling Program.

The Insurance Department will hold one last enrollment event Thursday in Dickinson. Those who are unable to attend these events can dial 2-1-1 from any North Dakota phone, or log on to www.medicare.gov and enter your information in the Plan Finder tool, to get prescription drug plan assistance.
