Don’t Buy It, Until We Try It: Furniture Fix | Video

Amy Fox | 11/2/2012

Our couches and mattresses get heavy use, and over time, they can get pretty beat up. What do you do if you don`t have money to buy new? Look for a cheaper option.

In this week`s "Don`t Buy It, Until We Try It," I tried out Furniture Fix.

They advertise Furniture Fix as a seat and cushion support. All you have to do is attach six panels together, slide them under a couch or chair cushion, and it will instantly lift and fix your sagging upholstery, making it look like new.

But, does this product actually work? Well, "Don`t Buy It, Until We Try It."

With the housing shortage in Minot, more people are staying at hotels, which means furniture is getting heavy use.

"We get a lot more wear and tear on some of the items we have with longer living: seat cushions or as far as bed cushions, the mattresses as well," said Staybridge Suites General Manager David Bussard.

While Staybridge Suites opened in January, General Manager David Bussard is always looking for new ways to keep his facility up-to-date.

"Everything does get wear and tear and we want to make sure we keep things the best it looks always. We want to make sure we put our best foot forward."

So, we decided to put Furniture Fix, seat and cushion support, to the test.

We pulled the panels out of the box and began to slide them together, like advertised on TV. Once we had the panels snapped together, it was time to try them out on the couch in the hotel lobby.

We placed the panels underneath the cushion, secured them in place, and it was ready to try out.

Bussard said, "It definitely does have a better lift with it and it`s a lot more firm."

The next stop: the theater room.

We repeated the same steps, but this time, we had to take off a few panels to fit the size of the seat.

“The seat was a little bit sagged in the middle, and when we actually put it underneath the cushion, it did actually lift it up and it was very nice,” said Bussard. “It felt good."

But, before we could give Furniture Fix a thumbs up or a thumbs down, we wanted to try it out on a mattress, like advertised on TV. Once again, we lifted the mattress, slid the panels underneath, and the mattresses stayed secure in place.

While we tried Furniture Fix on relatively new furniture, the panels assembled quickly and custom fit each piece of furniture. Not to mention, it provided extra support just like advertised on TV.

So, this week`s "Don`t Buy It, Until We Try It," earns a thumbs up.

Bussard says if the hotel decides to use Furniture Fix, they would have to develop a system to sanitize the plastic panels in between guests.
