Starting January 1, parking at Minot International Airport will be under new management. What does this mean for the future of the airport?

The city took bids from four different companies and Republic Parking System will take over airport parking. With experience, specifically in airport parking, Republic claims it will help Minot during its transitional period to a new airport.

“You tell us how much it costs. You run your operation and that`s what we`ve been doing for quite a few years,” said Minot International Airport Director Andy Solsvig. "But, that cost has been a 50/50 split for the last 20 years. Now, we`re probably looking at a 10/90 split, which is a significant amount of revenue coming back to the airport to help us pay for our operational costs and for the projects we need to do."

Solsvig says the city is not taking over the airport parking management.
