Minot Law Enforcement Housing Grant | Video

Rene Thibault | 10/26/2012

Close to $200,000 for law enforcement housing is coming to Minot thanks to the state Finance Agency. The Law Enforcement Pilot Program was created to provide affordable rental housing to law enforcement in oil impacted areas.

The money will go to a local building company, and new housing units will be set aside for officers. Two units aren`t much, but Minot law enforcement won`t turn away the help.

“Its a step in the right direction, two units won`t solve all of our housing needs by any means, but it`s a start. It will help two law enforcement officers in the Minot area find housing”, said Police Chief Jason Olsen.

The homes won’t just be for Minot PD officers, any local law enforcement, from Sheriff’s deputies to highway patrolman. Units in a new apartment building going up on 31st Avenue Northwest will be set aside for the Minot law enforcement officers.
