New Stoplight to Ease School Traffic | VideoJoel Porter | 10/23/2012
Commissioners say those living nearby had been advocating for a traffic signal there for years. They before and after school, traffic flowing to and from Horizon Middle School can back up for several blocks.
"And I didn`t want to be putting a traffic signal at 43rd and Washington after someone was seriously or possibly fatally injured. So I`m just extremely happy that we`re going to have this traffic signal in place soon," commissioner Parrell Grossman said.
The cost of installing the new stop light is expected to be just under $170,000. Grossman says he expects the new traffic signal will be operating by January.
