Berthold Farmers Elevator Fire | Video

Residents near the Berthold Farmers Elevator in Carpio reported hearing the explosion yesterday afternoon. A fire came soon after that. On the scene, there was smoke coming from the inside of the grain silos, but as time passed, the smoke turned into flames coming out the top.

Fire officials say they believe the heart of the problem is inside.

"The vents at the top indicates that there`s still live fire in there. Now we have a crane on scene to help us get to the top," said Carpio Fire Chief Calvin Myers.

Fire crews are still on site putting out the flames and investigating what caused the initial explosion and fire. All of the elevator workers were able to get out of the silos safely.
