Mexican Citizen Sentenced for Reentry of Deported Alien

A citizen of Mexico was pleaded guilty and was sentenced today on a charge of Reentry of a Deported Alien. Jose Diaz-Campuzano, 55, will serve 18 months in federal prison.

In August, Diaz-Campuzano was arrested at a campground near Powers Lake where authorities discovered that he was in the country illegally. According to the U.S. Attorney`s Office, Diaz-Campuzano had been convicted of burglary in 1981, deported and re-entered the U.S. illegally.

His past convictions also include possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a controlled substance.
