New Business Moves into Downtown Mandan | Video

It`s not rare to find North Dakotans who head to Arizona for the winter, but a couple from Arizona is now calling North Dakota home. Scott and Roma Newton moved to Mandan to start a business. They held a grand opening Saturday for their new store in downtown Mandan, Meriwether Trade and Gift Shop. The store features Mandan and North Dakota memorabilia, purses and customized t-shirts.

The owners say the Mandan Renaissance Zone project offered them significant tax breaks and no rent fees for six months. They say Mandan is a business-friendly community.

"Your community`s growing. The state`s growing and I want to be a part of that and I believe what the community helps give you, I believe that we should give back," said Scott Newton.

Newton says visitors are encouraged to stop by the store and register for prizes, including a trip for two to Las Vegas.
