New Town Man Sentenced for Assault

A New Town man will serve four years in federal prison for assaulting a casino security officer. Thomas Edwards Jr., 28, was sentenced to four years in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release.

In April of last year, Edwards was at Four Bears Casino when he was contacted by security because of an outstanding warrant. Edwards fled the officers and entered a vehicle. When backing up, he ran over the leg of a security officer, resulting in multiple fractures.

In addition to prison, Edwards will also have to pay $100 to the Crime Victim`s Fund.
