Fairmount School Back in Session | Video

Valley News Live | 10/12/2012

The Fairmount school is trying to deal with the aftermath of the student who shot himself in the head during class yesterday. The freshman is expected to recover and is in a Fargo hospital.

School was back in session today, but some students stayed home. Staff encouraged them to come to class today so they would have someone to talk to. Additional counselors showed up to talk with children who were struggling.

The school also set up a comfort room, where students could play games and talk to each other through their struggles.

"It`s going to be a slow process. Then come Monday, After the full session today and the whole weekend and know the student is okay, that makes a world of difference," said superintendent Ron Stahlecker.

The superintendent says just days ago, the school counselor had a group session with the boy and his classmates about suicide and depression.
