Fort Yates Man Sentenced on Assault Charges

A Fort Yates man was sentenced in U.S. District Court today on two assault charges. Tarrell Little Bear, 28, will serve four years and nine months in federal prison for domestic assault by a habitual offender and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Last September, Little Bear assaulted a woman that he had a domestic relationship with. He also kicked a man in the face while wearing shoes last August.

He had also been convicted of at least two prior domestic violence assaults.

Little Bear`s prison sentence will be followed by three years of supervised release and he will have to pay pay $200 in special assessments to the Crime Victim`s Fund and $2,927.54 in restitution.
