Partying in Pink for a Cure | Video

Michelle San Miguel | 10/7/2012

Women have a one in eight chance of developing breast cancer. On Sunday afternoon, hundreds were showing their support to find a cure. The Missouri Valley Family YMCA in Bismarck held its third annual Party in Pink Zumbathon.

Seventy-five percent of the proceeds from the event go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

"A lot of times, especially as women as important as we are in everyone`s lives we have this concept that we need to do everything for everyone else and it`s really important to let other people do things for you. So let others lift you up. Let us know what we can do to help," said Lindsey Peterson, fitness director at the YMCA. Peterson`s godmother and her aunt are also breast cancer survivors.

October is breast cancer awareness month. This week KFYR-TV will have more information about how to detect breast cancer.
