Slotsve enjoys coming to work every day, and teaching students the ins and outs of math. And kids notice his passion for teaching.
"He`s really good at explaining things. If I have a question he just answers it and I understand it right away most of the time," said student Austin Jones.
Having a good relationship with his students has always been important to Slotsve.
"It`s been something that I`ve taken a little pride in, to have a good rapport with my students. Being able to take the math and try to explain it to them maybe not in one way," Slotsve said.
Slotsve has also been roaming the sidelines for almost 20 years now as the assistant football coach and the head basketball coach.
"I think it definitely helps me in the classroom to be able to take what I know in the classroom to the court and vice versa."
Whether his students are throwing it down on the court, or figuring out math equations in the classroom, Slotsve always enjoys seeing kids succeed.
"It`s just a great feeling, as an educator we`re all the same way. When students understand it, like you said get that light bulb to turn on it`s that moment you really appreciate being in education."
Success is something his students are accustomed to.
"He explains it more, and gets down to detail more than just like a little bit, more into it than anything," said student Cayli Slette.
Slotsve teaches upper level math at the high school.
