Burn Bans for Burleigh and Emmons Counties

| 10/1/2012

Today, Burleigh and Emmons counties declared a Fire Emergency and instituted Burn Bans that are in effect until further notice. The counties cite abnormally dry conditions and have either been threatened with or sustained rural fires as of today as reasons for the bans.

The Burn Ban includes a ban on campfires and garbage burning.

The city of Bismarck is excluded from the burn restrictions because of restrictions and fire codes already in place.

The penalty for violations is a Class B misdemeanor with a maximum sentence of 30 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
