One Month Left for Golfing | Video

Michelle San Miguel | 9/30/2012

Golf courses in Bismarck will be open for one more month this season if the snow stays away. Plenty of golfers were teeing off Sunday at Tom O`Leary Golf Course. Employees there say it`s been one of the busiest golf seasons to date, in large part because six holes on Riverwood Golf Course remain unplayable.

Normally at the end of September, golfers could expect anywhere between a 30 and 60 degree day. This weekend, however, they could wear short sleeves as the thermometer approached 80 degrees in Bismarck.

"For one thing a lot of people like to be outside. They want to have something to do. That`s the one nice thing about golf- we`ve had great weather and so a lot of people just like being outside and chasing the ball around. That`s what it amounts to," said Larry Fust, an employee at Tom O`Leary.

Golfer Lee DeForest said, "Earlier in the year Riverwood was not open at all and so played pretty much exclusively here."

Golf courses in Bismarck are scheduled to close October 31.
