Most of them aren`t even old enough to vote, but some young men and women will get the chance to give their input on what happens in Mandan. The City Commission is encouraging teens to apply for the city`s first youth commission.

Members will provide recommendations to the City Commission on projects that provide educational and community enhancements.

"We`re looking for all personality types. That`s the beauty of serving on a commission like this. Whether it`s students that are actively engaged in their school through different extracurricular activities or maybe it`s someone who has a deep seated interest in city government and operations. Anybody and everybody is encouraged to make a real difference in their community," said commissioner Dot Frank.

The city is accepting applications through September 25. You can apply online at www.cityofmandan.com or at Mandan Middle and High Schools.
