Dakota Zoo Earns Accreditation

| 9/20/2012

The Dakota Zoo in Bismarck announced today that they have been granted accreditation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

"Only zoos and aquariums that meet the highest standards are accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums," said AZA President and CEO Jim Maddy. "The community should take great pride in knowing that the Dakota Zoo is ranked among the best zoos and aquariums in the world."

To gain accreditation, the zoo went through a review to make sure it met standards of animal care, veterinary programs, conservation, education, and safety.

AZA requires zoos and aquariums to complete the accreditation process every five years.
