Airport Emergency Exercise | Video

Alex Hagan | 9/18/2012

There has never been an airplane crash at Bismarck airport, but authorities are prepared if there ever is one. A full scale emergency airfield exercise tested emergency response teams using a fake airplane crash scenario on the Bismarck Airport runway. Federal Aviation Administration regulations require the airport to conduct the exercise every three years. Airport officials say the exercise is important for future emergency situations.

"It gives us a chance to test things such as communication between organizations, between the field and the emergency operations center and things like that. So we`ll hopefully all learn from this tonight and be better prepared in the event something should happen," said Airport Manager Greg Haug.

Hospitals, fire, police, and emergency preparedness workers took part in the exercise, along with airport personnel.
