Mandan Extends Garbage Contract | Video

Joel Porter | 9/18/2012

City leaders in Mandan were talking trash this week. More specifically, garbage collection. The city commission supported a five-year agreement with Armstrong Sanitation to pick up garbage.

The city charges property owners about $10 a month for garbage pickup. The contract was set to expire at the end of October.

"Because I have to order new trucks for the garbage. And it takes five years to pay for them," Armstrong Sanitation owner Peggy Becker said.

City leaders say they`d also like to offer curbside recycling. That remains up for discussion.
