Energy Impact Research | Video

A group of researchers from Minot State University and Dickinson State University have been studying the impact of energy development on North Dakota.

Joann Beckman presented part of their solutions model Tuesday evening at Minot State University. She says most of their research focuses on the energy impact on smaller communities and that culture is one of the areas of change where many communities are adjusting.

“It`s not the same as it was four or five years ago and it`s probably never going to be the same, but it doesn`t mean it can`t be good and so that whole thread of community culture and how to make the influx of new people a positive in the community was something we thought would be really important to bring some ideas forward,” said Beckman.

The research project has been ongoing for three years and has focused on the communities of Bowbells, Crosby, New Town, and Tioga.
