Red Flag Warnings Lifted Temporarily | Video

Evan Kruegel | 9/17/2012

Red flag fire warnings have been lifted across most of the Western half of the state. Fall is just five days away and overnight temperatures are beginning to drop quickly.

That early morning frost helps significantly to reduce fire danger for that particular day, but this is still a very dangerous time of year simply because of how dry the ground is. In fact, the early morning frost can actually dry the ground out even more, creating increased fire dangers.

"Until we see out first snowfall, any time there`s open grass or open range and especially if you`re out hunting or working in it, we need to have people check the weather service before they start burning in case the conditions are right that we would have a burn ban in effect."

Williams County is under an automatic burn ban policy, meaning red flag warnings are automatically in effect if fire weather danger is extreme or high..
