Now, they advertise the EZ EYES keyboard as a large print keyboard, with larger letters and a higher color contrast. Not to mention it’s easy to set up and it’s spill resistant.
But, does this protect actually work? Well, “Don’t Buy It, Until We Try It.”
EZ EYES is a product Aaron Michels actually considered stocking at The Computer Store in Minot.
"It`s marketed towards people with poor eye sight,” he said. “That`s the main thing I was thinking of."
Before Michels sells any of these large print keyboards, he wanted to try it out.
We plugged the cord into the USB port, and began typing, just like on TV.
"The bright color, the contrast between the yellow and the black, and the fact that everything is just so much large makes it very easy to read," said Michels.
We compared the EZ EYES keyboard to a normal keyboard. The bold print letters look much larger than the normal keys.
Michels said, "You can see it from a mile away. I mean, it doesn`t take much effort to be able to see the keys."
But, before we could rate the product, there was one more thing we had to look at.
On the box, it says it`s spill resistant. And on the back of the keyboard you`ll notice some drainage holes, so we decided to see if it works.
After pouring a cup of water on the keyboard and shaking out most of the liquid, we tried out the keyboard again.
But, after we plugged the keyboard back into the USB port, the keys didn`t work after the test like it was advertised on TV.
"Considering you`d be using it when it`s plugged in, spill on it, and it wouldn`t work,” said Michels. “I wouldn`t advertise it as spill proof."
While the EZ EYES keyboard failed the spill test, with its large print, bright color, and easy set-up, the product earns a thumbs up in this week`s "Don`t Buy It, Until We Try It.
