Witt Receives Lone Eagle Award | Video

Jerame Novak | 9/12/2012

Retired Bismarck Police Chief Keith Witt hasn`t been forgotten. Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem presented Witt with the Lone Eagle award this afternoon. The award is given each year to an active and retired North Dakota Peace Officer who has contributed guidance, inspiration and support throughout a career of public service.

Witt says his accomplishments were a team effort.

"Kind of overwhelmed by the whole thing. Just had a great career here at the police department and you know this recognition, definitely honored by it. But I definitely feel that what I accomplished was definitely through assistance and help I received from others within the department working together as a team to get the job done. As well as those outside the department."

Lieutenant Ken Owens from Williston will receive the award for Active Law Enforcement tomorrow.
