Re-stating a Presidential Proclamation, Governor Jack Dalrymple has declared September 11th Patriot Day. It will be a day of service and remembrance A day to mark the 11th Anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York. All state government agencies are to fly the American and state flags at half-staff from sunrise to sunset.

Several Ward County residents still know the importance of paying respects to those who lost their lives that day, ”I`m retired military so it has a little more meaning for me, as a former military person somebody attacking your country is catastrophic and historical by a large measure”, said David Bice. Adam Paterson from Des Lacs added that it’s a day Americans should never forget, “I think it`s something we should never forget, I still remember it very clearly from when it happened. I was just a little kid but I still think it is still a hugely significant event and I still keep those people in my prayers”.

All North Dakota residents are encouraged to lower their National and State flags, and observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. Eastern time to honor those who perished that day.
