Dog Splash Raises Funds for CDHS | Video

A Mandan waterpark was open once again Sunday to welcome a few four-legged guests. The Central Dakota Humane Society held one of its largest fundraisers of the year at Raging Rivers. Organizers welcomed pet owners for the Shaggy Shuffle and Family Fun Day.

Dogs competed in numerous contests, from best pet costume to largest and smallest dog. Although the park closed to the public before Labor Day, it opened for one last day for the fundraiser.

"Last year we actually had two events. One event was called the Raging Rivers Family Fun Day. We had that one weekend and then we had the Shaggy Shuffle the next weekend. So this year we decided to make it one extremely fun day for the dogs and combine the two events together," said Mandy Schaaf, volunteer coordinator for the Central Dakota Humane Society.

The event raised about $20,000. The money helps the shelter pay for daily expenses taking care of the animals.
